The musicians in the pop group Something Acoustic, came together in a twist of fate in early 2011. Mike Foster and Mark Matherly have spent the better part of the last 22 years playing in together in different groups and several outside projects. Todd Davis was brought into the band Joyride in 2001. When Joyride dissolved, the hard rock band Something Wicked was formed. Needing a singer, they hit the internet and got lucky. Christine “Cricket” Hall was looking for a new project. Having spent years in pop, goth and swings bands, she had recently moved to NC and needed a creative outlet. Bandmix came to the rescue. That’s right folks, they met on the internet. Something Wicked started playing out and having a great time but the drummer decided it was time to move on. While auditioning new drummers, Mike decided to fill the spare time with a new project. Something a little more pop. Something a little more main stream. Something a little easier on the ears!
Something Acoustic was born. Reuniting Mark back with Todd and Mike, things came full circle. Christine said she wanted to be a rock and roll screamer, but her voice was more than a match for standards. The kind of songs that need to be sung from the soul and listened to with the heart.
With a songlist of over 175 songs, the group has played a wide range of events and parties providing music for any and every occasion. Bringing over 85 years of combined experience and influence to bear, means the song list is varied and deep. Something Acoustic plays everything from modern pop to country and folk to alternative. Three acoustic guitars and three unique voices blend into a journey that takes the audience through the best music of the last 40 years.
